The Hybrid Mega Yurt - Last Chapter

Our first aerial shot of the Test Site! Just marvel at it for a moment! Our latest addition, that will be handled in this text, is seen centered with its large dark roof.
The Hybrid Mega Yurt is, for its practical purposes, a finished construction. It has been for some time now; having hosted several workshops, and no less than two dance to dawn psy-trance parties with DJ Sianos behind the music operating machine!
With tha said it's still a project under construction. Many small improvements are being added as the days go by, and will continue to be added for some time still.
Let me lead you through the progress so far, and we will let this be the final chapter of this five part series.
Let's start at the ground level, where the myriad of load bearing poles creates an optimal area for work spaces, storage and hangouts.
Outer walls are being added over time. And although cobbing is a quite slow process, and there's no real hurry to close the floor completely, we have the luck of having our own master cobbers in Luísa and Anastasia.
It was they who designed and lead the work on this beautiful cob bench, for example!
Between the three main pillars of the structure we got the planning table. Here the most important decisions are made, you can also charge your phone or power tool on some good quality solar energy, or draw something nice on the table.
The latest add on is this solar air heater, that is being cobbed into the wall. The sun will heat up the black painted beer cans, and a small fan will lead warm air into the building on cold days.
Here we have the main entrance with its swiveling stairway. And below the deck by the door, a cobb storage is already completed.
The second floor (or first if you're British). A large commonspace; with plenty of games, room for training, where presentations and movie nights happen, or where you can go to warm yourself on top of the cobb bench that is connected to the rocket mass heater.
And at night it turns into a space ship!
The mass heater itself! Open the lid, throw in some kindling, and in a while you got a warm and cozy room for the chill
But let's not linger here, there is more to be explored
The third floor offers us some splendid chill out space. All cushioned up and supplied with innovative safety railing.
But there's more still! Check out this little hatch, where has it taken us?
Right into the eagle's nest - the highest point of the Test Site!
From up here you can spy out over the lands and behold the workers toiling away on the distant surface!
There's a deck outside you see, from where the bravest drink their morning coffee!
And where the evening sun sets right before your eyes.
Let's summarize this! In April 2018 there was an empty plot of land, in three weeks there stood an outlay for a structure, and in the autumn the building stood ready for use. This has been the origin story of the Hybrid Mega Yurt! Though its adventures is far from over!
