Roofing

Fresh roofing material arrives - and the IKEA-team reassembles! The first beams had already been pre prepared, and were nailed up even before you could say: "Wouldn't it be nice to have a roof over that beautiful staircase over there..."

We went with some of the standard solution out from the roofer's guidebook. Cross beams and beam crosser to deal with gap issues, and some pole unlengthening to re-euclidise non-euclidean curving patterns.

Fitted boards were soon an assembly line production, after some basic maths had been applied to the structure (you simply divide the diameter of the board with your least favourite number and then subtract until you "feel it". Sometimes the procedure need to be repeated a few times before you find the perfect fit).

Tar paper - for both your roof's and your longevity!

Finally a worthy IKEA-team challenge! To build in the new roof into the old roof. We didn't need the blessings of neither angels nor angles - excellent planning was our method! That and luck!

Just getting the measurements for the last pieces of tar paper and then we're done! And do you see how those last boards exquisitely slide in under the old roof!

And the beautiful staircase over there has a nice roof to go with it!
