The Hybrid Mega Yurt - Part IV

Kategori: Construction, Greece, Travel

During the past six months the Hybrid Mega Yurt at the Test Site of Free & Real has gotten into shape. Two weeks ago we held the biggest party in the history of Aedipsos muncipality inside the now finished structure. Here follows some splendid photos of the progress from the natural building workshop that was held in September last year.

The interior is taking form, walls and roof. And visible is both second, third and fourth floor.

The main building project of the workshop was the rocket mass heater. A heating system that reduces the amount of wood needed for generating heat, and that is structured to burn the fumes and release less emissions.

Workshop leader Andreas placing and leveling the fire bricks that makes out the burn space of the system.

The smoke is lead through a pipe that we cover in cob clay, and make into a bench. The cob is a great way to store the heat and keep the room heated for hours after the fire goes out. And benches are excellent for sitting on, especially warm and cozy ones.

Roof getting finished.

The eagle's nest remains as the last spot of construction for completion of the building.

Meanwhile on the ground level, the base poles are being connected with cob walls.

Cobbing away. It's a slow process, but it's quite cool to get some sturdy walls standing from mud, sand, hay and water!

The Hybrid Mega Yurt is close to becoming finished!
The last chapter of the project is soon to follow! Stay tuned!
