The Energy Mastercourse

We're now half way through the Energy Mastercourse!
What's a Energy Mastercourse you might ask? What's energy? What's a course? Who's the master? Why am I here? Why won't this tab close? What is this file that is force downloading to my computer? Why is there no money left on my bank account?

There are many questions to ask, I shall try to provide a couple of answers.
Firstly - a Energy Mastercourse is a group of people that meet up at a place under the supervision of the SEYN people. The SEYN people then proceeds to tell the people about things that they know, the people gets the opportunity to listen and to try things out. As time passes some of the people acquire new understanding of how things work, they might eat some food and take a swim in the sea. All in accordance with a schedule that is taped to the wall and contains roughly the right dates.

But who are the SEYN people? Is it a cult? How do I join? And seriously, what happened to my money?
Hold it, let me continue. SEYN is an acronym that stands for Sustainable Energy Youth Network, it's a non-profit association based in Brussels that is active around Europe and beyond. Their main focus is to engage young(ish) people in sustainable energy sources and to promote a holistic approach regarding energy use, environment and democratic processes.
It's a cult of life. You join by sacrificing three married bachelors in the name of Yog-Sothoth at the third moonless night of the year. They're on facebook.

So, what's been going on? We started with a guided tour around the facilities here at Free&Real, where we got a presentation of previous projects that have been created (this is the third mastercourse being held here). Amongst the devices were; solar water heater, solar fruit drier, sun stove, solar speaker systems, solar air heater and a bicycle washing machine. Some of the concepts we would recreate, others repair and maintain.

The sun stove got cleaned up and dragged into the blazing spring sun. Them apples stood little chance at maintaining their composure in the heat of the focal point.

The days have followed with both theory and practice. We've gotten safety instructions on use of power tools, the basics in understanding of energy transformation and electricity, work has started on two solar air heaters, workshops in battery pack construction, the set up of a solar driven speaker system and much more.

The area is bustling with activity. The almost 40 persons involved in the workshop are engaged in multiple projects around the area. Since I'm running low on words in my head I'll give you some visual outtakes.

Five days in, and five remaining. Not only is there plenty of new information that has moved from external minds into mine, more improtantly there is a feeling of empowerment in doing and seeing that these solutions for sustainable energy consumption are withinh reach. I'd strongly recommend a workshop of this degree to all.
And yeah, regarding that money, who the fuck keeps 12 euro in their savings account... I'm gonna go and buy an ice cream and enjoy some pure solar energy.
