Shrooming through the forest

Kategori: Greece, Travel

The other day we set out for our first day of mushroom picking. Most of us being quite new to the field, we began with picking whatever we found, after half an hour of that Apostolos narrowed down the picking material to a couple of known eatable variants. We scanned the forest floor, brushed over suspicious leaves, kept an eye out for wild boars and tried not to get lost.
I found four mushrooms and a pinecomb. I think my catch could be served as a rather dry, slow death.

Some hours in the peak was reached. I'd wandered alone for a bit and found myself in reminiscence of faded childhood nature experiences, the landscape at this altitude surely resembled that of the north. Beside the view that is.

We found a charcoal piler's hut at our way back. It was locked with a piece of string, so we got a good glimpse of the spartan life of the slow burning fire's guardian.
