Revisiting mycophobia

Kategori: Greece, Travel

A close friend to me studied mycology for a while, and taught me that there seemed to be an inherit aversion in the human species for fungi. Speculating further this was most likely due to their divergent cellular structure, and their, not to implausible, nonterrestrial origin; resulting in a collective unconscious survival mechanism for this potential alien threat.

Altough seeing the point in my friend's argument, I've never considered myself a mycophob. I've enjoyed a mushroom or two over the span of my life, and never felt any strong dismay regarding their presence.
This day however, my second as a mushroom hunter, this disposition was to be challenged.

The forest walk started with a case of the Sloppy Slime Seeping Sliver.

I actually had to poke this one for a while to make sure it wasn't someone's kidney.

Meeting the real smurfs.

Venomous Forest Stalkers.
They bite.

The Feign Drowning Cap. Don't let it lure you down.

At least I had Spyros as a trustworthy guide, who made sure I didn't stray away from sanity's path.
(Today I conisdred him a mix of little red riding hood and a raptor hunter)
